Dr. Coen Gho
Doctor and researcher Dr Coen Gho is a leading international expert in the field of hair, stem cells, and tissue engineering.
Research and working experience
Since 1992, he has been pursuing fundamental research and clinical field trials in close collaboration with universities and teaching hospitals. His work has resulted in a range of new therapies and treatment methods for burn wounds and hair and scalp diseases.
The most well-known technique he developed is the Partial Longitudinal Follicular Unit Extraction method, otherwise known as the HST method. This is an innovative hair transplant technique whereby parts of the hair follicle are extracted with a needle of 0.5 to 0.6 millimetres in diameter and 5 to 6 millimetres in length. This technique makes it possible to leave stem cells behind in the donor area and extract it for transplantation in the receptor area. Both of these follicles are capable of producing hair. The grafts are much smaller in the HSI method than other hair transplantation techniques, resulting in greater hair density without scarring.
Dr. Coen Gho works at Hair Science Institute clinics in Amsterdam, Maastricht, London, Jakarta and Dubai. He leads all of the medical teams and is committed to researching and improving the HST method.
