Cicatrix-chairwoman Regina Heeß incurred in March 2000 heavy burns on about 20% of her body, as a result of a spiritus combustion. In particular her face, back of her head, upper body and arms were affected. Numerous corection-operations were performed on her in the following years.
In 2004, Regina Heeß set up Cicatrix together with companion Petra Lubosch. In the meantime, with more than 800 members, Cicatrix is now the largest interest group for burn patients in Germany. In the same year her biography “I live a second life” was published. She is also co-author of various specialist books. In January 2010, the primetime documentary about Regina Heeß was broadcasted on 3 SAT: “The other face: a woman, her accident and the beauty”. This documentary was followed by more than a half million viewers in Germany. Regina Heeß regularly gives lectures at home and abroad, and holds chairs at two nursing education institutions.
As co-founder of the Cicatrix Foundation, Regina Heeß considers it her duty to inform fellow sufferers as well and objectively as possible about treatment methods and (medical) institutions. Her goal: the best possible care for all victims of incineration. For this reason, she decided, immediately after being informed of the Hair Stem Cell Transplantation at HSI, to undergo HST treatments herself. As an experience expert, she posted her findings on the Cicatrix website
First treatment (test treatment)
Treatment date:
14-12-2010
Treatment area:
Right side of the back of the head
Number of grafts:
In this test treatment, an irregularly formed bald spot of approximately 8 x 4 cm behind the right ear was treated. Due to her long hair, this place was not immediately visible.

Second treatment
Treatment date:
23-08-2011
Treatment area:
Right side of the back of the head
Number of grafts
705
More or less the same area was treated in this second treatment. To create the highest possible hair density in the scar, more grafts were harvested. For this, of course, more donor area also had to be shaved, so that the donor area, unlike the test treatment, bordered on the receiving area.
The result
The success of the first test treatment not only convinced the patient about the effect of HaarStamcel Transplantatie, but she also became enthusiastic about it. Given the relative invisibility of the bald spot under the long hair, she was reconciled. The fact that her hair apparently could still be restored turned out to be an unexpected and emotional experience for her. As co-founder of Cicatrix, a German interest group for burn victims, she will now be able to inform and advise her supporters from her own experience.
