In the field of research, Hair Science Institute works together with specialists who are affiliated with research centers and (academic) hospitals, such as Prof. dr. Dr. Martino Neumann. Prof. Neumann started his medical studies at the University of Leiden. He specialized in “dermatology venereology” at the Municipal University of Amsterdam. In 1980, Neumann established himself as a dermatologist at the St Lambertus hospital in Helmond and the St Willibrordus hospital in Deurne.

Three years later, Neumann obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam with his dissertation: “Relevance of fluorescence techniques in immunilogical mediated skin. In 1992 he was appointed professor of dermatology / phlebology at Maastricht University and head of the dermatology department at the Academic Hospital Maastricht.

In 2002 he accepted the position of professor of dermatology and head of the dermatology department at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. At the end of 2015 he retired. He has more than 400 scientific publications and is (co) author of a dozen books. He currently fulfills a number of positions in the field of dermatology in addition to his position at HSI, such as international association work, member of the supervisory board, advisory functions, etc. He is an internationally recognized authority in the field of dermato surgery, oncology and phlebology.
